Drone Photography for New Construction Homes in Connecticut
New construction listings are different from resale listings in a few important ways that affect how drone photography gets used. The home is often being marketed before it's finished, the lot may be in a new development where context matters for buyers evaluating the neighborhood, and the builder typically wants documentation at multiple stages for their own records. Here's how I approach this category of work.
Pre-completion marketing
Many Connecticut builders list spec homes before they're complete. Aerial photography helps in this context because it can show the lot, the building footprint, and the surrounding neighborhood while interior photography is still waiting on finishes. A drone shot showing a home in framing stage, set on a well-positioned lot in an established neighborhood, gives buyers the context they need to make a decision before the home is move-in ready.
Aerial is also useful for showing a property's relationship to the surrounding development — if there's a pond, open space, or premium lot position that makes a particular unit worth more, ground photography at the framing stage can't communicate any of that. A drone shot can.
Lot documentation before construction starts
Builders and their attorneys often want aerial documentation of a lot before breaking ground — establishing existing conditions, site access, and adjacent property relationships. This pre-construction baseline is useful if there are later disputes about grading, drainage, or boundary issues. It costs almost nothing to capture and can be worth a lot if questions come up during or after the build.
Completed home listing photography
For completed new construction homes in Connecticut, aerial documentation shows the finished product in full context: lot size, landscaping, driveway layout, proximity to neighbors, and the overall setting. New construction in desirable towns like Westport, Wilton, and Ridgefield often involves custom homes on premium lots where that context is a significant part of the price. Aerial photography makes the case for the lot as clearly as interior photography makes the case for the finishes.
I work with builders and listing agents throughout Connecticut. Pricing for new construction documentation starts at $250. Get in touch and I'll put together a quote for your project.
